Abstract

Peri-implantitis is an irreversible inflammatory disease which affects both the soft and hard tissues of a dental implant. If not properly treated, it will lead to implant failure eventually. The most common cause of peri-implantitis is the accumulatio of dental plaque and the formation of bacterial biofilm on the surface of implant. Recently, round titanium brushes including titanium alloy bristles (RBrush, NeoBiotech, Seoul, Korea) have been developed as an alternative to detoxifying and repairing contaminated implant surfaces due to severe peri-implantitis. The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the surgical treatment of peri-implantitis with a regenerative approach, focusing on decontamination of the implant thread using the titanium brush.
